  • Carter Franklin Graves. Names chosen after an inventor and a belated grandfather. Carter would always feel as if these names placed a predestined course on his life; on one hand, he carried with him an unusual aptitude for ingenuity. On the other, he carried a burden of inane normalcy and mediocrity.
  • Carter had no particular shining talents as a kid; his main course of interest was reading and was often found with his nose buried in a book. This resulted in isolation on Carter's behalf, finding no cause for friends outside of pen and ink. Some could argue that his refuting friendship with others was a means of self preservation; only after years of adulthood and several drinks, Carter would soon find himself agreeing.
  • Carter acquired his Masters of Philosophy at University of Pennsylvania. He has accepted a position at the University of Washington-Seattle, where he will begin teaching in the fall. Until then, he will be working research teams and serving as an aide to students.
  • Carter is a bit of an audiophile. Although he knows nothing about performing arts (the idea makes him break out into hives!) he appreciates music for what it is and fully comprehends its power. He takes pleasure in collecting headphones to which he listens to his music in his duct taped discman. In Carter's opinion, it wasn't the message, it was the messenger.
  • Born in Chicago, Carter grew up in the heart of the midwest. His father was a banker and his mother a journalist; it was only when a new position opened for his mother at the NY Times did the family relocate. After spending fifteen years of his life in the blue collar windy city, Carter begrudgingly packed his bags and moved to NYC.
  • Carter is a staunch vegetarian. His personal vendetta is not purely for the animal's sake, but for his own fear of red meat related heart disease. Carter also, subsequently, takes preventive measures by taking a baby aspirin per day. He has never told anyone this, ever.
  • Never one to push boundaries at the first notion, Carter often finds himself holding back from new potential relationships. As one ex-girlfriend would say of Carter to her gal pals, "You don't get to know Carter; Carter gets to know you, and then, maybe, you get to know him." Carter would exasperate many friends and potential lovers with this behavior.
  • Carter prefers people who can take his mind off of the many pointless, menial thoughts that flutter about his brain. He does not prefer arrogant or cocky behavior (a subconscious self resentment, in the end.)
  • Television makes Carter restless. He used to own one at a certain point, but sold it at a garage sale.
  • Carter claims to have quit smoking, yet has a pack duct taped on the back of the headboard of his bed. Occasionally, he sneaks a smoke and is not aware that anyone could know of his ruse.
  • Carter regularly runs marathons and participates in Relay for Life. He is not a cancer survivor and not sympathetic to the cause, but more so enjoys the idea of many people coming together to work for a common goal.
  • Carter really enjoys remote controlled helicopters and attempts to make trips to the park in his downtime to give his Esky-Hobby Robins 22 "New Lama" some airtime. His pet name for the helicopter is Julie, after Julie Newmar - the object of his childhood affection after seeing her in Catwoman attire.
  • Carter has a love of antiquing and chooses to do a majority of his shopping at an antique shop. Carter generally purchases a menagerie of comic books, telephones, headphones, pieces of furniture, and Playboys. Other collections not born from antique malls are: insects, butterflies, candy packaging from foreign countries, and lampshades. His collections (excluding furniture!) are quite extensive.
